Drip Campaigns — automated email sequences triggered by behavior

Set up automated email sequences that trigger based on lead behavior — a lead visits your pricing page, their score jumps, or they go cold — and convert more without manual work.

Drip campaigns are automated email sequences that run on autopilot. Unlike a one-time campaign you manually send, drip campaigns trigger automatically based on a lead’s behavior and send the right message at the right moment — without you needing to be involved.

How triggers work

Every drip campaign starts with a trigger — the event that enrolls a lead in the sequence. CooVex supports the following triggers:

  • Lead score crosses a threshold — e.g., when a lead’s score reaches 70, they enter a high-intent sequence
  • Lead visits a specific page — e.g., when a lead visits your pricing page (requires website embed)
  • Lead goes cold — e.g., when a lead has not engaged in 14 days, they enter a re-engagement sequence
  • New lead created — every new inbound lead enters a welcome/nurture sequence
  • Lead stage changes — e.g., when moved to “Proposal” stage, a post-proposal follow-up sequence begins
  • Manual enrollment — add any lead to a sequence manually from their profile

Building a drip sequence

Step 1 — Create the sequence

Go to Campaigns → Drip Sequences → New Sequence. Name the sequence and choose a trigger.

Step 2 — Add steps

Add email steps with timing between each:

  • Email 1: sent immediately on trigger
  • Email 2: sent 3 days after Email 1 if no reply
  • Email 3: sent 7 days after Email 1 if still no reply
  • Branch: if a reply is received at any point, the lead is removed from the sequence and a task is created for manual follow-up

Step 3 — Write or generate copy

Click Draft with AI for any email step. Tell the AI Coach the purpose of the email and the lead context, and it drafts the copy. You review and approve before the sequence goes live.

Step 4 — Set exit conditions

Define when a lead exits the sequence before completing all steps:

  • Lead replies to any email
  • Lead stage changes (e.g., moves to Won or Lost)
  • Lead score drops below a threshold
  • Manual removal

Drip campaign best practices

  • 3-5 steps maximum for most sequences. Beyond 5 emails, reply rates drop sharply and you risk being marked as spam.
  • Space emails 2-5 days apart for outreach sequences. For nurture sequences targeting longer buying cycles, weekly is fine.
  • Personalize with lead data — every email can include the lead’s name, company, industry, and any notes using template variables.
  • Always have an easy opt-out — CooVex includes an unsubscribe link automatically.
